The admission application fees, personal photo, and passport or ID copies are pretty obvious. The university must be able to recognize you and accept your Master’s application. However other required documents will be determined whether or not you accept or not a degree in which you apply.

List of Documents Required For Studying Abroad

To help you get into the mind of an admissions committee, we will explain each document and also give you some insight into what university expects when they offer admission and what they really want.

So here is the main document that universities required during your admission application:

Copies of Diplomas From Your Previous Studies.

In your master application when you are applying study abroad universities they will required copies of your bachelor diploma or transcript translated in English. While most of the master applications only required your undergraduate diploma but some will also be asked for a high school diploma.

In case you don’t have high-grade don’t worry you will not be disqualified for admission. There are many other thing may in which you score high and the admission committee like that, for example, volunteering work, strong motivational letter, and a good reference letter from your professor also help you lot.

Bachelor’s Degree Transcript

Academic transcript give full detail about your studies, course you have attended at the undergraduate level, the grade you received and the type of module of the bachelor program. Study Abroad universities required an official copy of the transcript not printed or screenshot.

Academic transcripts very improtant because it will help the admission committee to make a decision whether you have a necessary background and skills for the master’s program you are applying to.

At the same time they can able to see in which subject you have a strong grip and where you are weakened and need improvement. That way it’s important you have very good grades at the bachelor level.

Language Proficiency Test

When you are studying abroad the chance is that you study in English or other popular languages such as german, french, etc. For this reason, universities required English language test so they know that language is not a barrier in your studies and you are able to understand English and also speak that langages very well.

The master program taught in English generally requires official language certificates such as IETLS, TOFEL, C1 Advanced or GRE. When they asked for a specific score it’s mean they really want that score. If you have a higher score that will convince more that you are good in English.

Motivation Letter or Statement of Purpose

Many student confused about why statement of purpose or motivation letter required for master applications. One thing more Statement of Purpose and motivational letter are not the same thing they both are different.

Difference Between Motivation letter VS Statement of Purpose

Your statement of purpose is a good way to describe your personality and show your future career goals and how you will achieve them. Your motivation letter is addressed to the admission members and shows the reasons why you want to be accepted in the chosen program.

However, both documents focus on your background and explain why you applying for a study abroad master program. Both documents are well written and in good structure, but not very long (Hint: Don’t tell your life story in both documents) and try to limit in one to two page.

What To Include in a Motivation letter or Statement of Purpose

  • Why you want to study in this program at this university and where you heard about this program?
  • What makes your interest in this program and what makes this program the best study option for you?
  • What particular factor convinced you to pick this master study program (reputation, teachers, job options, etc.)?
  • How your previous study area match with this program if not explain then why you want to change your study area?
  • What career or future path you aiming after completing this program and how this program will fit to your plan?

With the motivational letter, universities want you to more focus on your background and career path. While in statement of purpose universities want to talk about who you are, what has influenced and inspired you for this program and your journey path.

Reference letters From Your Previous Institute

Reference letters allow others to speak for you. Generally, this is considered additional evidence of your ability, with which you will successfully complete the master’s degree you are applying for.

If you only need to send Reference letters, these letters will focus on your academic skills and achievements. If necessary or you can send a reference letter from an employer, universities expect that letter to reflect their master skills.

Project Description or Portfolio

A description or portfolio of projects is required only for highly specialized programs, such as a master’s degree in research or a master’s degree in science.

Portfolios are required for master’s applications in the areas of arts, design, and architecture. Universities expect this portfolio to reflect your experience and, yes, your talent in their field of study. They will also analyze your clients and the type of project they have carried out.

A description of the project is required when applying a program that ends with a research thesis. This project description must include:

  • What are you going to research in the master’s program and why?
  • What is the current research on this topic in which you are chosen?
  • How will you carry out your Master’s research?
  • What conclusions do you expect at the end of research and how do you add your research to your existing knowledge?

Curriculum Vitae

The Curriculum Vitae is your business card. Universities are not interested in a detailed description of all their extracurricular work and activities, although you should definitely include them. The admission committee wants to see your experience and interest in the program you want to study.

For this reason, you should focus on including in your curriculum published academic work and work (paid or not) in academic groups, relevant awards, etc.

For example, if you are enrolling in a Psychology course, the committee will impress you if you have been taken any internship to hospitals or have published a study in a peer-reviewed journal.
