For many men, baldness can be a sensitive subject – they may feel that it makes them less attractive and masculine. However, research has shown that there is no reason for such a self-destructive attitude.
Bald men are considered more confident, intelligent, and dominant. Perhaps this is not a bad substitute for a full head of hair!
We encourage everyone to accept themselves for who they are and show that unconventional physical features can actually bring you huge benefits.
Bald Guys Are Perceived To Be More Socially Dominant
A study by Professor Dr. Frank Muscarella from Barry University showed that bald men are considered more socially dominant compared to other men.
The researchers found that while people see men with more physically attractive hair, bald men are more likely to be perceived as those with higher social status: people claim they see them as more dominant and superior, but they feel no threat compared to men with hair.
During the research, Dr. Frank Muscarella asked the focus group to rank the male participants according to 4 criteria: attractive, aggressive, appeased, and mature.
Some people saw photos of men with a full head of hair and the other part of the group saw photos of the same men, but with their hair completely digitally removed.
The results were unexpected: bald men were rated as more honest, intelligent, and masculine.
Several Studies Have Proven That These Results Are Correct
Dr. Frank Muscarella’s findings were supported by research from the University of Pennsylvania. Psychologist Albert E. Mannes showed that people tend to view bald men as stronger, more dominant, and more successful.
But bald men are not only seen as strong and sexy, but they are also seen as smart. Researchers from the University of Saarland analyzed data based on a survey of 20,000 people.
The results showed that bald men are more often perceived as older, but people see them as wiser and smarter.
Having Bald Spots And Some Hair Won’t Do The Trick
Men need to be completely bald to be seen that way. Research has shown that bald men, on the other hand, were perceived as weak and less masculine.
It may be related to the fact that shaving the head can be perceived as an active affirmation, giving others the feeling that the man is in control and is not ashamed of his appearance. And this is attractive!
