1. The Lotus Building in Wujin, China
Blooming out of an artificial lake in central Wujin, China, it is the Lotus Building. The beautiful building takes its name and shape from the lotus flower. The architect’s idea was to create an incredible atmosphere, regardless of the weather or the season. The building is home to departments of the city planning agency.
2. An incredible hotel in the Alps
This is still a concept, but we have not been able to overcome it. This hotel is planned to be built in the Alps. The creator of the building is Andrii Rozhko and was inspired by the spectacular mountain scenery. The hotel spans a steep cliff and has an impressive glass facade.
3. The lotus temple in the town of Bahapur, India
Another large lotus-shaped building is the main house of worship of the Bahá’í Faith. Its doors are open to everyone, regardless of religion. Nine doors lead to the central hall of the temple, which symbolizes the unity of all religions.
4. The cubic houses of Rotterdam, Holland
There is a group of 40 houses on Rotterdam’s Overblaak street. They give the impression that everyone has turned upside down. The houses were built by the architect Piet Blom, and all the walls and windows have a 45-degree angle.

5. The Atomium in Brussels, Belgium
Anyone who sees the building may think that it is just a huge sculpture made of metal. However, it is a complete building. Following the tubes, you can move between the spheres and reach a science museum or restaurant. The Atomium represents 9 iron atoms in the form of a cubic cell centered in the body of an iron crystal.
6. City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, Spain
This is another notable example of modern architecture and is located right on the water, in the middle of the park in Valencia. It looks very futuristic and resembles one of the skeletons of a fantastic beast. The complex consists of 5 buildings: a covered plaza, an IMAX cinema, a park, a science museum, and an oceanographic park.
7. Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku, Azerbaijan
Heydar Aliyev Center is probably the most curious and well-known building in Baku. The brilliant architect Zaha Hadid, known for her love of “alien” shapes, designed the fluid shape of the building. Inside, there are exhibition halls and offices.
8. Emporia Shopping Mall in Malmo, Sweden
This shopping center is the largest in Scandinavia. Double-bent glass encloses the diagonal slot that cuts through the building as if it is going to fall over. Inside, visitors and shoppers can find colorful escalators, swings instead of benches and hanging gardens.
9. La Muralla Roja in Calpe, Spain
There is a housing project in the south of Spain, where everyone would like to live. Its name can be translated as “red wall”, and the building makes clear references to the popular architecture of the Arab Mediterranean region. Inside the building, the color red changes to purple and blue.
10. Singapore Museum of Art and Science
This museum is one of the main attractions in Singapore. Its shape resembles a hollowed-out palm or a lotus flower. The three skyscrapers in the background with a ship on top are Marina Bay Sands, a luxury hotel and another Singapore architectural masterpiece.
11. Capital Gate in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
At 520 feet and 35 stories, it is one of the tallest buildings in the city. Guinness World Records has certified Capital Gate as “the world’s most inclined man-made tower”. The tower tilts 18 degrees (by comparison, the Tower of Pisa tilts only 4 degrees).
The skyscraper’s middle name is the Leaning Tower of Abu Dhabi.
12. Markthal in Rotterdam, The Netherlands
This Market Hall is the most beautiful in the world. Even the Queen of the Netherlands came to the opening ceremony. The market is located inside an arched residential building. The interior of the building is adorned with works of art by Arno Coenen: fruits, vegetables, fish and flowers. That is why some call the Rotterdam Sistine Chapel market. 13. Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain
This is one of the most spectacular buildings in the world in the style of deconstructivism. The architect Philip Johnson described it as “the largest building of our time”. 14. The Kunsthaus Graz in Graz, Austria
This modern art gallery is called “Friendly Alien”. Some people see the heart of a whale or an aircraft in the shape of the building. The Kunsthaus is made in the innovative style of blob architecture, an architectural movement in which buildings have an organic amoeba shape. Moreover, the “Alien” glows at night.
