Hi everyone! How are you? Did you manage to fit into your back-to-school routine? Waking up early and forcing myself to sleep before midnight was a real torture for me until I decided to do a little EXPERIMENT ITSELF. To be honest, I was a little skeptical about the results at first, but what happened next really SURPRISES ME!

In one of the teen magazines, I read that turning off phone notifications can make you feel calmer and less stressed, so I decided to give it a try. At first, I was a little scared by the idea of turning off ALL notifications on my phone.

After all, I’m so used to being alarmed EVERY HALF THE HOUR that sometimes I feel like my phone is actually part of my hand. Anyway, I wanted to challenge myself, so I turned off the email notifications first.

Then Facebook followed. Instagram – GONE, YouTube – Bye, TikTok – See you later. Silencing my WhatsApp was the hardest thing, and I instinctively kept checking every hour to see what was new on the first day.

I Turned Off My Phone Notifications for a Week, and Here’s What Happened

All summer I stayed up late, surfing my social media and watching funny YouTube videos. But now that I’m back in school, I know I have to do something with my sleeping routine. I was hoping that turning off my notifications would help me from day one, but the first night of my experiment I couldn’t sleep.

I felt something was missing and thoughts ran through my head. Anyway, I continued with this challenge and was quite surprised when I began to notice that things were going BETTER EVERY DAY.

I Turned Off My Phone Notifications for a Week, and Here’s What Happened

See how my life changed just 1 WEEK after silencing my phone:

I finally managed to adjust to my back-to-school routine and now I sleep peacefully at 10:30 p.m.

I feel calm despite the fact that the beginning of the school year is often very stressful. I don’t really feel stressed.

My screen time has been drastically reduced. I spend less time looking at my phone and now I can find better ways to use that “extra” time. Now I prefer to go for a walk or read a book instead of trying to keep up with the latest TikTok trends.

It’s easier for me to focus on my studies. Miracles happen when your phone doesn’t distract you every minute. It turns out that I can work in a newsroom for an hour without being distracted.

It’s been 10 days since my experiment started and to be honest I don’t want to stop. In fact, I turned on my WhatsApp notifications today but turned off all group chat alarms so as not to get distracted too often.

As for the other apps, they remain muted and I have a certain amount of time during the day to quickly review and close them.

We’ll see where this experiment takes me, but for now, I WANT TO CONTINUE my peaceful life without phone notifications popping up on the screen every second.

And you? Do you spend a lot of time on your phones? Would you dare to do the same experiment? Let’s discuss this in the comments!
